Celebrate America

Hurrah for the red, white and blue!
Patriotic explosions of red, white and blue and stars and stripes filled our week as we talked about America, freedom and fireworks!

We sang "Yankee Doodle" and read a book by the same name by Steven Kellogg.
We also read I Pledge Allegiance by June Swanson
and sang along to God Bless America illustrated by Lynne Munsinger.
Creating in the salad spinner always makes for some artistic surprises!
Stamping and patterning stars and stripes...
Our patriotism even showed up at the easel as we created with red, white and blue paint...
Red, white and blue stars and stripes came together for some pretty awesome flag collages.
Even Betsy Ross would be impressed!
Beads, straws and pipe cleaners of patriotic design and color were patterned into bracelets and necklaces.
Spinning tops took the place of fireworks in our celebration. We dipped big ones and little ones in paint, spun them around and paint went flying!  Who needs fireworks?!?!?
Happy Birthday, America!
