Follow That Map!

There's a Map on My Lap! got us started on our road to map exploration...
An open ended road map of many colors was a fun way to explore maps with cars.
We began looking at different kinds of maps. We especially loved the huge map of the world.
We made a map of our great big world with fingerpainting and handprints...
Using maps from an atlas, we made map collages with house-shaped sponges and cars dipped in paint. Lots of language happened when we talked about, "How do we get from here to there?"

We read Me on the Map and made our own books about where we live...
Goin' on a Bear Hunt really brought maps into perspective for us. We went on a pretend bear hunt and then made maps to show how we got to the cave and back home again.
Our 3-D maps turned out great and once again, the language that went into making them was quite expressive.
