The Reindeer Wish

We found ourselves on another adventure with Anja in The Reindeer Wish

as she cares for a baby reindeer that she finds in the snowy tundra near her home. When she realizes Odin is homesick for "his kind", she heads to the North Pole to give him to Santa for his herd. In thanks for her kindness to the reindeer, Santa gives her a wish that she's had for a long time- a puppy of her very own.
We need to remember and show thanks to Santa's reindeer as they work so hard Christmas Eve. We scooped oats in a bag and added colored sugar so that the reindeer could spot this special treat in the moonlight.

Gingerbread Baby

"I am the Gingerbread Baby,
Lucky as can be,
To be living in this house.
That Matti made for me."
And so ends this twist on the story of the original "Gingerbread Man" with the title Gingerbread Baby

The gingerbread house Matti makes saves the Gingerbread Baby from Matti's Mom and Dad, the farm animals and even the fox!
We made houses for some gingerbread friends and it became a pre-math activity as we counted the numbers of each kind of candy we put on our gingerbread house. This was some pretty yummy-looking math.
We also got in some fine motor workout squeezing the colored glue and opening the different kinds of candy. And then there's the language that takes place...

Night Tree

Just like in today's book, Night Tree,Image result for night tree book
we decorated a tree for the animals. We took our pine cone bird feeders and cheerio chains to the "jungle" and hung them in the tree for the animals for Christmas. We added oranges, cranberries, corn and all kinds of nuts to the collection of gifts to leave on and under the tree.
When we were done, we sang some Christmas songs- just like they did in the book!
To all of our special animal friends in winter...
Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
We hope you enjoy our treats!
